Topic： Business Corpus Analysis: Words and Frames
Summary： In this talk we describe the use of text analysis software and specialised corpora to
investigate features of Business English and we will explore two main topics. The first deals with
different levels of linguistic analysis of Business English: from words to collocations to constructions
to frames. We will examine how we might build up a linguistic description based on these different
types of expressions. The second strand involves the description, based on the different levels of
linguistic analysis, of some ways of proceeding from corpus description to the production of
language teaching materials.
